Welsh Refugee Council achieved the Trusted Charity Mark

Trusted Charity is a nationally recognised quality standard designed to help charities operate more effectively and efficiently.

Achieving this award shows stakeholders that our organisation has reached a recognised quality standard, reassuring them that our organisation is well run, complies with legal requirements, and is accountable and transparent.

To achieve this quality mark, our organisation went through the self- assessment process which covers 11 key areas such as leadership and governance, financial management, and assessing outcomes and impact. Staff, volunteers, and trustees participated in the process. We proved to meet all standards. It was then followed by the external assessment which was carried out by Trusted Charity Mark assessors. This external assessment involves reviewing documentation and interviewing staff, volunteers, and trustees.

In the assessment process, various policies and practices have been updated and carried out, including the creation of an induction program for new staff, the update of the staff handbook, and conducting internal surveys. All these have made our organisation operate more effectively and efficiently.
