Hello! I’m Athina, and I serve as the Head of Communication, Engagement, and Policy at the Welsh Refugee Council (WRC).

My commitment to this role is deeply personal. My grandmother was a refugee, so the mission of WRC resonates profoundly with me. I’m passionate about creating a fairer Wales where everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to live safe and fulfilling lives.

In my position, I lead a dedicated (and awesome) team focused on advancing our mission through clear communication, strategic engagement, and impactful policy development. We work tirelessly to forge strong partnerships with government bodies, non-profits, and private sector leaders to drive sustainable growth and maximise our impact.

Beyond securing essential resources, our team is devoted to enhancing community outreach and advocacy. We aim to broaden the reach of our programmes and ensure that WRC’s services are as effective and far-reaching as possible.
