At the Welsh Refugee Council, we’re absolutely buzzing to be leading Refugee Week in Wales, in partnership with the amazing Counterpoints. 🌍✨ Refugee Week isn’t just about raising awareness—it’s about celebrating the everyday magic that happens when communities come together. Whether it’s a smile, a chat, or an act of kindness, these small things add up to create powerful, lasting connections.

As bell hooks once said,

“We can begin the process of making community wherever we are. We can begin by sharing a smile, a warm greeting, a bit of conversation; by doing a kind deed or by acknowledging kindness offered to us.”

And she’s right! Community is where the real magic happens—it’s where healing starts, where resilience grows, and where real connections are made. Whether it’s sharing a meal, kicking around a football, or making music together, communities are where divides fade and support thrives.
