Education & Employment Project

Our Education & Employment Project helps Asylum Seekers and Refugees navigate the world of work and education in Wales and achieve their ambitions.

We work with various organisations, including Ikea, to provide jobs for refugees.

We offer:

 

  • Employability workshops,
  • One-to-one CV support,
  • One-to-one Job Application Support,
  • One-to-one interview support,
  • Careers advice and employability support,
  • Help finding job vacancies, training courses and volunteering,
  • Advice about college, university and community learning,
  • Online and in-person English classes.

Do you need help finding a Job? WRC Employment Support Services

WRC Employment Support Services

Welsh Refugee Council can provide advice and support about employment opportunities including:

  • WRC Employability Workshops
  • Job vacancies, training courses and volunteering opportunities
  • CV, job application & interview support
  • Careers Advice
  • Funds for vocational training
  • Employability Programmes with IKEA & PwC

The best way for us to help you is through our online and face-to-face employability workshops. In these workshops you will receive a lot of advice about how to find work in Wales and also about Welsh work culture. If you sign up for the workshops, we will provide you with credit for your mobile phone so that you can access the workshops. By attending the workshops, you can show your Work Coach that you are trying to find work (attending workshops can be part of your Work Commitments for receiving Universal Credit).

WRC ESOL Classes

Welsh Refugee Council offer free ESOL classes. Please complete the WRC ESOL Classes Registration Form if you want to attend WRC ESOL classes.

The Language Passport – your ticket to work

What is the Language Passport

 

The Language Passport – your ticket to work is designed to help refugees find and keep a job.

It is inspired by enterprising refugees who tell us that they have found entry- level jobs that can be done with limited English to begin with. Once you start working, it is amazing how much English you learn just by doing the job. We have taken this idea and developed Language Passport – your ticket to work to give you the tools you need to get started.

For the pilot phase June 2023, we are providing information for two jobs: retail assistant and hotel housekeeper.
