Salah Rasool: Head of Services

With years of dedicated service, I manage staff, projects, and data collection to ensure our initiatives are impactful and effective. Having been with the organisation through its ups and downs, the cause is very close to my heart.

I make sure safeguarding procedures are a core part of the organisation’s daily practices. As Head of Services, I lead our case workers to act in the clients’ best interest and to give support tailored to their needs. I ensure we follow regulations set by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) and that all staff and volunteers have the information, training, and support to offer an excellent service.

I am passionate about creating employment opportunities for refugees in Wales. Working with policy makers and partners to build a system that supports all is very important to me. My commitment to improving outcomes for sanctuary and refugee services has led me to a research trip to Canada with the Walter Dickie Leadership Bursary. I look forward to bringing valuable insights back to Wales to strengthen our refugee and sanctuary programmes.

I believe in a Wales where every sanctuary seeker feels welcomed, valued, and supported. Through leading our training programme for government organisations and businesses, I share my insights and experiences to welcome all organisations to be part of building an inclusive and compassionate society.

I also spent 2 years as the Chair of the Sanctuary Coalition Cymru, to lead the collection of sanctuary seeking experts by experience. We speak as one voice on the solutions and support mechanisms for sanctuary seekers in Wales.
