Treasurer and Resources Subcommittee Chair
Eanas Naas
Salam,
My name is Eanas.
I came to the UK as a refugee, arriving alone with no family or friends, carrying only the dreams I brought with me from home. From my earliest days here, I worked hard to learn the language, build a career, and create a safe, loving home for my family.
One of the greatest challenges I faced was studying while raising my children, all while navigating financial hardship. I remember many days preparing for exams with a sick child by my side, striving to succeed as a woman and remain present as a mother. During those difficult moments, the longing for home was one of the heaviest burdens to carry.
What truly helped me was building relationships within the community, especially through volunteering. Giving my time freely has always brought goodness back to me and my family, allowing me to form strong connections with kind and supportive people. I deeply believe in the power of giving, and the strength of community has been central to my journey.
So when Chair Mohammed invited me to be part of the Welsh Refugee Council, I didn’t hesitate. I knew it was my time to give back, to support others and uplift the community that once lifted me.
I believe the WRC is the best place to do that, and I’m honoured to be part of this incredible organisation.
Today, I continue to learn, grow, and contribute. I am passionate about helping others feel seen, valued, and supported, just as I was when I needed it most.
