Work and jobs

Our Employment Programmes, known as “Your Career, Your Future in…”, help sanctuary seekers and refugees enter the world of work in Wales. Working with employers, we are setting up direct partnerships so that our clients have the chance to go into real workplaces and potentially interview for roles at these companies.

The Welsh Refugee Council is currently focused on creating construction, warehousing and hospitality opportunities for our clients. Those interested will also be given:

Careers advice ✅

One-to-one interview preparations sessions ✅

Employability workshops ✅

Access to volunteer placements ✅

We work with various organisations to provide jobs for refugees.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Hughes, WRC’s Education and Employability Officer, for all his time, effort and support provided to me up until now, first for supporting me in updating my CV, then for helping me to prepare for a number of interviews, until I succeeded in being offered the position of Teaching Technician in my area of expertise with Cardiff University. Thanks to the Welsh Refugee Council, and huge thanks to Chris.”
