New eVISA support service
Wales eVisa Support Programme
Starting December 31, 2024, Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) cards will be replaced by digital eVisas across the UK, and the Welsh Refugee Council, funded by the Home Office, is ready to help people in Wales with this transition. Here’s a quick guide to what eVisas are, why you need a UKVI account, and how to get support.
What’s an eVisa?
An eVisa is a digital record of your immigration status that you can access anytime through your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. Instead of carrying a physical BRP, you’ll use this online record to prove your right to stay, work, or rent in the UK. By the end of 2024, you’ll still need to carry your current BRP when traveling, but after that, all you’ll need is your passport.
Key benefits of eVisas:
- Secure: No risk of it being lost or stolen.
- Convenient: Faster to access and share with employers, landlords, or UK border officials.
- Immediate Access: No need to wait for a physical document after approval.
How to Get Help
With Home Office funding, the Welsh Refugee Council offers support to help people across Wales create their UKVI account and apply for an eVisa. The process is free, and their team can walk you through the steps.
Moving to eVisas makes managing your immigration status easier, more secure, and ready for the future. And with the Welsh Refugee Council’s support, making the switch has never been simpler.
