Education and Employability Coordinator - North Wales

You will be joining us at an exciting time in our journey, helping us and the sector to support those who are forced to seek safety. With over 36 years’ experience, we are trusted by the communities we serve and are seen as the lead organisation in Wales for sanctuary seekers and refugees.

Job Title: Education and Employability Coordinator – North WalesSmiling female caseworker at the Welsh Refugee Council.

Salary:£25,662 annum FTE

Duration: Fixed term for 12 months, subject to extension

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: Wrexham, with travel required to North Wales constituencies

Purpose of the post

We’re expanding our Education and Employability project into North Wales, helping more refugees and people seeking asylum access opportunities to learn, develop their skills and find work. This role will help us build a strong presence across the region, working with our Move On and Widening of Dispersal teams and local partners to reach communities and understand their needs.

Unlike our South Wales service, which offers direct employment coaching, the focus in North Wales will be on connecting people with opportunities already available, from apprenticeships, college and university courses to vocational training, volunteering and employment programmes. You’ll build trusted relationships, organise workshops on topics such as starting a business, green careers and gaining UK recognition for overseas qualifications, and work with employers to explore job opportunities. Your work will help people build confidence, develop their skills and take their next steps towards meaningful, lasting employment.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • A strong communicator with stakeholders & partners
  • Well-organised and able to create clear, accessible schedules & calendars
  • Comfortable with databases, computers and IT systems
  • Approachable and patient with clients
  • Interested in academia and adopting new work-based approaches
