Logistics and warehousing with IKEA

A photograph of six people in Ikea uniform. The much-loved UPPNÅ Employability programme is a partnership between IKEA Cardiff and our Employability team, helping refugees rebuild their lives in Wales.

What does the programme involve?

The programme involves a series of employability workshops at our Cardiff offices as well as a guided tour of the IKEA store in Cardiff Bay. Following the tour, everyone will be interviewed by the IKEA team and if you are lucky, you will be chosen for an 8-week placement at the store.

What do our participants say about the programme?

This 5-day work programme with IKEA remains very popular with a satisfaction rate across 11 cohorts at 4.74 out of 5 stars!

In particular, our participants enjoy the mock interview sessions, the chance to learn from our experienced trainers, meeting people from new backgrounds, having the opportunity to see new workplaces and the delivery of our workshops being tailored to a refugee audience.

In our latest programme in April 2026, we have four successful participants secure work placements in customer service, food, retails, and warehousing roles. We look forward to running this programme again in the autumn of this year.
