Your Career, Your Future

Hospitality with Constellation and Barclays

Man stood talking to two other people in a kitchen. At the beginning of May, the Welsh Refugee Council partnered with Barclays and Constellation to deliver a tailored employability programme designed to support people from refugee backgrounds to build confidence, develop workplace skills, and explore new career pathways in hospitality.

What does the programme involve?

To kick off this programme, we deliver our own series of employability workshops, led by our qualified trainer, Mohammad.

This was then followed up by two excellent sessions led by Luke from Barclays, going over the Life Skills and Digital Wings platforms offered free at the point of use by the organisation. For our cohorts, this makes growing their employability skills easily accessible and ensures they are competitive when applying for vacancies on the open market.

What do our participants say about the programme?

Team stood at Cardiff City Football stadium. A key strength of the programme is the direct involvement of employers. Following our training, the group visited Cardiff City Stadium and the Constellation staff team, who shared great insights into their sector, recruitment processes and the qualities they look for in candidates.

Participants were able to ask questions, gain practical advice and better understand different job roles. For many, this was their first opportunity to engage directly with employers in this way. Constellation also went a step further to offer on-the-day adapted interviews, leading to the recruit of five new staff members, ready for their series of summer and autumn events across South Wales.
