We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that nominations for the Nation of Sanctuary Awards 2025 are officially OPEN! 🎉 

This is your chance to give a big, well-deserved spotlight to the incredible people, organisations, and communities who are helping Wales turn its inspiring vision of becoming the world’s first Nation of Sanctuary into a reality. 

These awards are all about celebrating the unsung heroes—the ones who radiate compassion, inclusivity, and innovation, and who are shaping a stronger, more united Wales. Whether it’s that one person in your community who seems to have superpowers when it comes to helping others, or an organisation that’s transforming lives and creating safe spaces—we want to hear their stories! 

So go on, tell us about those who deserve to be celebrated. Let’s make sure they get the recognition (and applause) they’ve earned. 

New categories for 2025 

This year, we’re excited to introduce brand-new categories to showcase even more of the amazing spirit of welcome happening across Wales: 

Equalities Champion Award: Recognises individuals or groups who are working tirelessly to break down barriers for refugees and sanctuary seekers from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+, disabled, and underrepresented communities. 

These new categories join our existing awards, ensuring a broad recognition of the diverse efforts contributing to a more inclusive Wales. 

Who can you nominate? 

Got someone in mind who’s been doing amazing things in the sanctuary-seeking or refugee sector here in Wales? Nominations are open for anyone making a difference—from local community champions to national initiatives. This is your chance to share their story and give them the recognition they deserve. 

Just one important thing: make sure your nominee is happy to be put forward before sharing their story—nobody likes surprises (well, except for surprise parties!). 

Submitting a nomination is simple! All you need to do is complete the Nation of Sanctuary Awards 2025 nominations form. The form should take roughly 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Once you’ve submitted your nomination, why not encourage a friend or colleague to nominate someone too? 

Deadline for nominations 

Don’t wait too long! Nominations close on 28 February 2025. Make sure your nominee has a chance to be recognised for their incredible work.
