Construction with Hale
This June, the Welsh Refugee Council has partnered with Hale Construction, The Gap Centre and ARC Training in Newport to deliver a tailored recruitment programme designed to get those with a passion for construction into Onsite and Green Careers.
What does the programme involve?
Hosted at the Gap Centre, this programme began with an initial 3-day CSCS card training package delivered by local experts, ARC.
Following this, our cohort will be booked in at Newport testing centre to take their CSCS card baseline tests, which will allow them to access construction sites and register the necessary competencies to their cards for different areas of skilled labour. Many of this group have previous construction experience internationally, working on major projects in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, all of which are key skills gaps needed for the Welsh construction industry.
What do our participants say about the programme?
Fundamental to this programme is the partnership with Hale, one of the highly trusted names in South Wales Construction, known for their commitment to delivering social value and impact within their operative communities.
Our participants loved the opportunity to visit live construction sites in Newport operated by Hale, at which they also had the chance to meet with subcontractors and local recruitment specialists, Bluewater, in order to learn how to get into the right careers.
If you are looking for refugee talent to match the recruitment needs in your business, get in touch with us today and we’d love to talk to you about running a similar programme!
