“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Hughes, WRC’s Education and Employability Officer, for all his time, effort and support provided to me up until now, first for supporting me in updating my CV, then for helping me to prepare for a number of interviews, until I succeeded in being offered the position of Teaching Technician in my area of expertise with Cardiff University. Thanks to the Welsh Refugee Council, and huge thanks to Chris.” – Lizan

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your help in preparing me for my recent job interview. Your guidance and support were invaluable throughout the process, and I truly appreciate all of the time and effort you put into helping me succeed. I am happy to report that I was offered the position, and I am excited to start my new job. I couldn’t have done it without your help, and I am so grateful for everything you did for me. Thank you again for everything. I look forward to staying in touch and keeping you updated on my progress.”– Yaser

Thanks to their leadership, I also took part in a training workshop on interview techniques, how to write a CV and contact strategy at PwC Cardiff and it was the same at the Principality Stadium. These opportunities have strengthened my abilities and developed my self-confidence, which has made my integration much easier. Thank you to the Welsh authorities and the community. – Souleymane

The Ikea Uppna program was extremely helpful in many ways. I found the workshop invaluable as it explained many aspects of the employment market and how it works, such as equality diversity policies, minimum wages or how to write a CV and a cover letter. The program enabled me to feel confident and I have successfully used the newly gained knowledge to secure employment. I’m grateful.” – Hema

The Language Passport – your ticket to work

What is the Language Passport

The Language Passport – your ticket to work is designed to help refugees find and keep a job.

It is inspired by enterprising refugees who tell us that they have found entry- level jobs that can be done with limited English to begin with. Once you start working, it is amazing how much English you learn just by doing the job. We have taken this idea and developed Language Passport – your ticket to work to give you the tools you need to get started.

For the pilot phase June 2023, we are providing information for two jobs: retail assistant and hotel housekeeper.
