Partnership work for ESOL Provision in Wales.

In 2014, the University of South Wales (USW) and the Welsh Refugee Council (WRC) agreed to work together to deliver an innovative solution for those in Cardiff on the lengthy waiting list for formal English Language lessons.

The partnership brought together undergraduate English language teacher trainees, apprehensive about undertaking their first ever live teaching experience, with international migrants, nervous about being in a new country yet eager to learn how to communicate in English.

The project was highlighted in the British Academy for Humanities and Social sciences’ report on integration and the steps we can take to protect social integration in the UK.
