Many of the issues identified in the 2017 Home Affairs Select Committee Report on Asylum Accommodation remain unchanged.

Please read our response to the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration's call for evidence into Asylum Accommodation.  Some of our key recommendations were:

  • For asylum accommodation to be devolved in line with housing policy for non-asylum seekers.
  • That asylum accommodation contracts are independently reviewed.
  • Local authorities and communities involved in asylum dispersal are adequately resourced.
  • A clear policy on the provision of emergency accommodation.
