The Welsh Refugee Council is recruiting for an Advice and Support Caseworker to support the work of the Asylum Rights Programme. Funded by the Welsh Government, the Asylum Rights Programme, a partnership of seven Welsh organisations, aiming to promote and ensure the rights of people seeking asylum and living in Wales in three ways:
Ensuring that people seeking asylum know their rights and have support, where and when needed, to claim them.
Ensuring that professionals working with people seeking asylum understand the needs of the people they are supporting, as well as their role in contributing to a Wales where rights are enjoyed.
Informing and influencing public understanding about the right to asylum and the benefits of welcoming people in need to Wales.
Details of the role:
Job Title: Advice and Support Caseworker
Reporting to: Programme and Partnerships Manager
Scale & Salary: £7,752 + 5% pension
Term: Fixed Term until March 2020
Hours: 14 hours per week
The main purpose of the role is as follows:
To deliver the WRC provision under the Asylum Rights Programme funded by Welsh Government by providing effective advice and support to WRC clients and, as appropriate and within the remit of their professional qualification, to advocate on their behalf
To provide advice, guidance and signposting to people seeking asylum and people with refugee status on a daily drop-in basis
To provide support to a caseload of people seeking asylum and people with refugee status on a one-to-one basis
To work effectively with partner agencies to improve access to mainstream services and improve integration outcomes
To support and contribute towards the development of the WRC’s advice service as a whole.
